Long course swim will be a reverse triangle. You will go around the buoys, keeping them on your left at all times. You will see the short course buoys lined up, go past them and turn left and straight in to the finish.

The long course will start at 6:50AM. Walk directly down to the beach from the transition area. Exact direction determined race morning, mostly always buoys on left. Short course will start at 7:20

Short Course Map    Long Course Map

We will be exiting the transition area on our bikes heading out the south end of the transition area and turning directly north on the road adjacent to the transition area on the west side. All bikers will proceed two short blocks north and then turn left on Cooper, around the clock tower and straight out to Ocean Boulevard to proceed SOUTH (left turn at light). These first few blocks will be very tight, so please proceed with caution and take it easy until you are on Ocean Blvd South. You will have plenty of straight roads to make up time. The bike NO LONGER goes along board walk and any portion north of Pier Village North.

Remember – THE ROADS ARE NOT CLOSED TO TRAFFIC. Be cautious at all intersections. We have 11 police officers on the course as well as many volunteers. They are there to assist in keeping the courses safe, but you are still responsible to watch for crazy drivers. People can cross the course and cut you off at any race, not just this one. Be safe!!!

Short Course Bike (1 loop)

You will ride only one loop of the course past Ocean Place Hotel, turn the NEXT RIGHT (MADISON AVE) and directly towards the transition area. Dismount on the pavement as you will be instructed.

Long Course Bike (2 loops)

You will ride two loops of the course. Out of the transition area, North on McKinnley, Left on Cooper around the clock tower and out to make a left on RT 36. On second passing of Ocean Place Hotel, turn at the NEXT RIGHT (MADISON AVENUE) and directly towards the transition area. Volunteers will instruct you at this point to head into second loop or dismount

It is always the responsibility as an athlete to be familiar with the course

1.3 mile Run (first duathlon run) both distances start together 7:15 with 3rd heat

Start at "Duathlon Start" sign on boardwalk at the NORTH SIDE of the exit ramp from the swim. Duathlon will start with the second heat of the short course (7:15AM). Both long and short course ALL Duathletes will start at the same time. Run North to the Entrance to Seven Presidents Park and return. See Map

3 mile Run  (NEW COURSE)

Athletes will run out of the transition area, then turn right heading south on the paved path in front of Ocean Place. All runners will run on the path south, past Ocean Place, to the flagpoles just before the bathrooms. Make a left turn and head north on the boardwalk, staying close to the Ocean as possible. At the end of the boardwalk, stay to the right on Seaview, make your first right and head north, pass the 7 Presidents entrance way, turn right at next corner (Charlies restaurant directly in front). Follow road passing the white wall to the junction of Ocean Blvd, turn left and stay to the left of the road, to the traffic light at Atlantic Ave, left again and back to Ocean Ave North, turn right and head back to finish

6 mile Run (NEW COURSE)

All intermediate runners will do the 3 mile run, but two loops. As you approach the finish area, stay to the left of the arch, following signs for 2nd loop. You must cross the timing mat for 2 loop runners as you start the second loop. Upon return the second time towards finish, finish under the Split Second Arch.

3 and 6 mile runners

South End turn around point is the same for both distances.

Please follow signs and cones delineated to channel athletes and keep spectators off of the course. Please be courteous to all spectators and walkers. They are enjoying the weather and getting some exercise just as you are. Share the boardwalk.  Please do not throw gel packs anywhere on the course. It’s up to all of us to keep the city clean!

  • Please make every effort to keep the noise to a minimum when you arrive at the race site. Although for most of us athletes it is perfectly normal to be up and chatting at 5 o’clock in the morning, most residents in the area are still asleep!

  • Please remember to thank the volunteers.

  • No headphones on the bike or run course please.

  • Remember, seconds don't count, but your safety does.  Be safe and HAVE FUN!

The City of Long Branch has a new parking area

Second Avenue and South Broadway, Long Branch NJ.

Bathrooms are located right before the Pier Village circle (north end). There is also a public bathroom about two blocks south on the boardwalk and just north of transition area, in the bandstand structure.

Port-o-Johns are located against the wall on Madison Avenue (north end of Ocean Place Hotel property)

Transition Area  See Map

We have a new design and location of the transition area. Rack sections will be marked to correspond to wave assignment. When racking your bikes, please try to use the seat to hang on the racks. This will take up less room so we can try to fit everyone in. Don't take up too much real estate. Please try to alternate both sides of the racks. Please try to get 8 bikes per rack.

Chips and bike numbers will be given to all registered athletes at packet pickup. You must wear this at all times, it is your entry to the transition area. Athletes only in transition area, please.  In addition, there is security at transition exits to ensure that your bikes and belongings are safe.

The transition area opens at 5:30 a.m. on race morning and closes at 6:45 a.m. before first wave in the water.

The transition area will be broken down at 10:30 a.m., so please make sure to remove all of your belongings before then.
